About the Clary Award
Seeking Nominations for the 2026 Clara and Larry Rezash Equality Advocacy Award

In June 2026, Harmony Creek Church will be honoring an individual or organization for their positive impact on behalf of the LGBTQ+ community in the Miami Valley through the Clara and Larry Rezash Equality Advocacy Award, lovingly known as the Clary Award.
This annual award is named in memory of United Church of Christ Pastor Larry Rezash and his wife Clara Barnum Rezash, who dedicated their lives to ensuring that all people feel known and loved, especially those who are LBGTQ+ and are not accepted by their families. Larry and Clara arrived in Dayton in 1982 and immediately found their community with PFLAG. For the next 40 years, Larry and Clara attended countless PFLAG gatherings, marched in many Pride parades, and gave warm hugs to thousands of people who desperately needed them. Although they received numerous awards for their compassion, it was helping a family reunite or witnessing an individual find love and acceptance that made their tireless efforts worthwhile.
It is in the spirit of Clara and Larry's love and commitment that we look forward to honoring this year’s award recipient for continuing their work today!
2025 Clary Award Winner

Andie Hock
We at Harmony Creek Church are thrilled to announce that Andie Hock is the 2025 recipient of the Clara and Larry Rezash Equality Advocacy Award. This annual award, lovingly known as the Clary Award, recognizes an individual or group for excellence in working on behalf of the local LGBTQ+ community. The Clary Award is named in memory of United Church of Christ Pastor Larry Rezash and his wife Clara Barnum Rezash. The Rezashes dedicated their lives to ensuring that all people feel known and loved, especially those who are LBGTQ+ and are not accepted by their families. Like Larry and Clara, Andie’s tireless efforts as an advocate, supporter, and volunteer have made a lasting impact on countless lives.
Andie is an advocate and a servant leader. Her involvement in numerous organizations, including the Q+ Youth Center board, PFLAG Dayton board, Closet TRANSformation board, Trans Day of Remembrance board, Q+ Health Alliance, and the Q+ Aging Conference committee, reflect her deep dedication to advocacy and support. Andie can be found wherever there is work to be done, whether it is arriving early to set up for a meeting, volunteering at an event, assisting shoppers in finding gender-affirming clothing, or sorting, organizing, and labeling donations. Her quiet, strong presence is thoughtful, dedicated, and dependable. Andie always gives of herself in the most committed and authentic ways.
Andie’s mentorship has been a beacon of hope for many, encouraging others to embrace their true selves and pursue their dreams. She consistently provides guidance and inspiration in the support groups she facilitates. By leading with love and compassion, Andie fosters an inclusive and safe environment for all participants. Her impact is nothing short of inspirational.
Andie is a source of spiritual and academic education in the community. She serves as a leader in her faith community and is always willing to educate others outside of the Q+ community on how to be supportive allies. Andie “shows up” in every sense of the word: physically, mentally, spiritually, and relationally. Authentic in the best sense of the word, Andie has a knack for finding common ground where others may only perceive difference and disconnection. Not only does she routinely find common ground with others: she magnifies and expands upon all shared aspects of the human experience, rendering everyone and everything around her, inherently, better.
Like Clara and Larry Rezash, Andie’s work centers on building community and making sure everyone feels included, heard, valued, and loved. Andie will be presented with the Clary Award at Harmony Creek Church’s Pride Celebration at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 22. The public is invited and encouraged to attend as we honor Andie Hock, a true gift to the entire Miami Valley.
