HCC Ministries

Social & Environmental Justice

Our Social and Environmental Justice teams are involved in the community in a multitude of ways. Take a deeper look at how we are changing the community and discover what matters to us.

Social & Environmental Outreach

What we do in the community.

Voting

Voter Empowerment Team

We affirm that each person is created in the image of God and deserves full citizenship rights. This group provides both information and opportunities for activism, as the rights of voters–particularly people of color and those who are poor–continue to be threatened.

LGBTQ+ Equality

As an open and affirming church, we have a responsibility to work for LGBTQ+ equality in the social and faith communities. Our church is partnered with PFLAG Dayton and Rainbow Elder Care and often participates in LGBTQ+ events.

Staying Home

Domestic Violence Initiative

The DVI exists to raise awareness concerning family and domestic violence and to find ways to support organizations that are helping domestic violence victims. We place great importance on making Harmony Creek Church a truly safe space.

Food Donation Volunteers

Feeding Friends Food Pantry

We offer a food pantry at 5737 Bigger Road to help fight food insecurity for members of our community. The pantry is open every Thursday from 5:00-6:30 pm, and we serve zip codes 45419, 45420, 45429, 45440, 45458, and 45459.

Refugee Ministry

Our church is currently partnering with a large family from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) that has been resettled in Dayton. We are continuously enriched by this relationship as the children blossom and the family works toward self-sufficiency.

Volunteering with Childrenjpg

Volunteer Support

We identify and partner with organizations across Dayton in order to meet their need for volunteers. These include the Lesotho Nutrition Initiative, the House of Bread, and more. Please reach out to us to learn more about where you can get involved.

Mission

Our Justice and Witness Ministry team leads the church to engage in missions and ministries that reach out to our community and beyond by doing the following:

  • creating places of refuge and renewal for those who are wounded and/or  ignored by the church

  • coordinating the distribution of the church's financial resources locally and through our church's wider mission

  • acting with compassion

  • advocating for justice

  • caring for the Earth

  • working for peace

Through all of these ministries, we are working with the church's stated mission of demonstrating God's love.
